What FastNews does differently

  • Your own tags. Group keywords into topics (e.g. “Middle East”: Dubai, UAE, Saudi Arabia). Each group has its own alert threshold.
  • AI importance score. Every new headline is rated 0–100 by an LLM (importance, urgency, category, one-line summary) — you decide when a number deserves a ping.
  • No doomscrolling. FastNews lives in the background (service worker + chrome.alarms); it only opens the popup when you want to skim the feed.
  • Pluggable sources. Free plan uses Google News RSS. Pro slot is ready for premium APIs (NewsAPI, Tavily, custom feeds) via a single NewsProvider interface.

How it works

  1. Sign in once with Google — the same account you use for Drafto.
  2. Create tag groups and pick a notification threshold (e.g. 70 / 100).
  3. FastNews polls your backend (/api/v1/fastnews/feed) every N minutes and analyses new items.
  4. Chrome notification fires for any item above your threshold. Clicking it opens the source.
